calm down

what do you mean calm down??

you say it like there’s nothing to worry about or like there’s nothing wrong with the world today.

it may be easy for you to say when you have nothing to worry about.

or maybe it’s because you don’t know what it’s like to be discriminated, hated or what it’s like to be killed for the complexion of your skin.

or do you??

i didn’t think so, or you wouldn’t tell me to calm down.

it’s clear that racism roams the streets of the world day and night.

it looks for somewhere to stay but it’s hard to stay in places where it’s not welcomed.

it causes destruction everywhere it goes.

and about that noise you talk about, it’s called a voice; a voice that wants to be heard.

yeah that’s right. . . i’m one of them voices and if you think i’m loud, this is nothing.

i’m just getting started, so don’t tell me to calm down!!!
